PRESS RELEASE FROM KINGSTON AND MALDEN SCOUT AND GUIDE BAND - PERFORMING IN BOGNOR REGIS ON SATURDAY 27 SEPTEMBER 2008

The Kingston and Malden Scout and Guide Band will perform in Bognor Regis on Saturday 27 September - but "Little Hampton" doesn't seem too pleased! That's little Sam Hampton, 4 week old son of Chris Hampton, one of the band's leaders. Both are pictured at a recent rehearsal in preparation for the event. It seems baby Sam wants to be part of the show too, as he vies for dad's attention while he practices!

The band will travel from Surrey to perform in the Seafront Bandstand between 1pm and 3pm and it will be baby Sam's first trip to support his dad, who's been a member of the Band since he was age 9 and will be playing his tuba as well as helping to organise the band's 50 or so young people and adults who will be performing.

It's the second time that the Kingston and Malden Scout and Guide Band will have played in Bognor. Two years ago they managed to secure a late summer performance at the last minute with the help of Arun District Council and were so pleased with their experience that they vowed to return.

The band is made up of members of Scout and Guide groups from in and around the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames and is certified as one of only a few top-rated Scout and Guide bands in the UK. They have a wide and varied repertoire which includes many well known numbers from stage, screen and Disney as well as from the world of pop.

This summer, the band travelled to Guernsey to perform in the island's "Battle of Flowers" celebrations and during Scouting's Centenary Year in 2007, they played at the closing ceremony of the World Scout Jamboree, in London's Lord Mayor's Show and at the 02 Arena.
So baby Sam and the people of Bognor should be in for an entertaining afternoon!
